The Northumberland County Veteran Ladies Golf Association (NCVLGA) got their campaign of matches against the other five northern counties off to a great start with victory over Yorkshire at Tynemouth.
In the team’s first match since 2019, Close House’s Claire Brown – the Veteran Ladies county champion and runner-up in this year’s Ladies County Championship – got off to a winning start before Elaine Elliott (Whitley Bay) added a second win.
The next three games went to Yorkshire before the final two matches on the course reached the 18th, where Linda Hoyle (Gosforth Park Ladies) and Angie Heads (City of Newcastle) won 1up and 2up respectively to give Northumberland a 4-3 victory.
The team will be looking to continue their success when they take on Cumbria at Seascale later this summer.
