Arcot Hall’s Rachel Gourley signed off her junior golf career by reaching the semi-finals of The R&A Girls Amateur Championship as Hexham’s Morgan Blythe reached the final four in the boys’ event.
Rachel, who headed off to Auburn University in Alabama to start her freshman year at college following the event, came through the 36-hole strokeplay qualifying on the cut mark before reaching the semi-finals of the international event hosted by Carnoustie, Panmure and Monifieth. She was beaten in the semi-final by England teammate and eventual champion Lottie Woad.
Meanwhile, Morgan comfortably qualified for the matchplay stages of the boys’ event – held at the same venues – and reached the final four before losing out to Sweden’s Didrik
Ringvall Bengtsson, who was beaten by compatriot Albert Hansson in the final.
