Newcastle United Golf Club has introduced a number of changes ahead of the 2024 season – headlined by the launch of The Newcastle Golf Studio.
The new studio – featuring ceiling-mounted Trackman iO technology which combines radar, infrared and high-speed imaging to deliver data for practice sessions and virtual golf – has been created by Mark and Liam McNulty, with the support of Jon Douglas.
Mark said: “The response to the launch of the studio, from both members and people visiting to use the technology, has been fantastic and we couldn’t be happier with how it has been received.
“We’ve had lots of very good golfers trying it out and practising when the weather hasn’t been great outside, and we’ve had nearest the pin events on Sunday mornings to introduce the technology and the stunning golf courses to players of all levels. It’s also been great to see kids in the studio, playing the courses and the fun games which Trackman offers.
“It’s exciting to have this technology so close to the centre of Newcastle and we’re looking forward to developing our offering further – including offering limited membership packages, custom fitting with TaylorMade, and coaching with our resident professional Brian Rumney – in the coming months.”
As well as the launch of the studio, the club has refurbished the clubhouse, which has been decorated throughout. On the course, a shorter academy layout is set to be created with new measured tee positions, and several bunkers have been remodelled this winter.
General manager Brian Rumney, who will be delivering taster sessions at the club throughout April, said: “While the winter weather has been shocking, we’ve not stood still and between the work by Mark and Liam on the studio, and our incredibly passionate committee and members in the clubhouse and out on the course, we’re excited about the season ahead.
“The investments made on the course, in the clubhouse and in creating the studio will undoubtedly enhance the membership and visitor experiences. We’re excited to welcome golfers – whether as members or just for the day to one of our new opens later in the year – so they can see what we’re now offering.”
