Northumberland county champion Andrew Minnikin added the 72-hole County Strokeplay title to his 2023 collection with four superb scores in tough conditions at Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Course.
City of Newcastle-based Andrew, who won the matchplay title at Ponteland earlier this season, led the field over two days in strong winds on the Northumberland coast. His rounds of 70, 70, 75 and 73 gave him an eight over-par total and a four-shot win over Dunstanburgh’s Martin Carss and Newcastle United’s Michael Burrow.
Martin meanwhile received the John Henderson Salver for the best 36-hole total on day one, while Prudhoe’s Ben Lloyd won the nett prize.
