Rotherham-based Lucas Martin signed off his university golf career with victory in the R&A Student Tour Series Final at St Andrews.
University of Lancashire student Lucas – who won the British Universities and College Sport (BUCS) English & Welsh Championship at The Nottinghamshire earlier this year and the North of England Amateur in 2024 – shot a five under-par 67 in the final round on the Old Course for an eight under-par total of 208 – following rounds of 69 and 72 on the Jubilee Course – as he completed a two-shot victory at the home of Golf.
Lucas was making his final appearance in the Student Tour Series at St Andrews. He arrived for his final event with six top-tens in the series, including a best of tied-fifth in Spain.
“It feels great to have won in my last Student Tour Series tournament,” said Lucas. “This Series has done so much for my golf, and I feel I’ve been close before, so to finally win is very satisfying. To do it over the Old Course is extra special. Not many people can say they’ve won at St Andrews, so I’ll treasure this for the rest of my life.”
Meanwhile, University of St Andrews scholars Judy Joo and Judd Sundelson were crowned R&A Student Tour Series Order of Merit winners.
