Knaresborough Golf Club has welcomed its first female president in its 105-year history to her new role.
Pat Johnstone was elected to the role at the club’s annual meeting, building on her long and successful association with the club. A member for nearly 50 years, Pat joined Knaresborough when her late husband, Keith Johnstone, became the club professional. Over 28 years she served on various committees within the ladies’ section and was its captain in 1998. She was also active in raising funds for the club’s centenary in 2020 and has been part of the team which maintains the garden around the clubhouse.
“The golf club is my second home, and it will be the highest honour to serve as the first lady president of Knaresborough Golf Club,” said Pat.
Knaresborough’s management committee chairman Stewart Taylor added: “Pat will be a very effective ambassador for the club and her wealth of experience of Knaresborough Golf Club will be invaluable during her term as president. I am looking forward to working alongside her and I have no doubt that she will offer an extremely positive contribution to the management committee”.
