Joseph Newby is stepping up to play in a charity golf challenge to say thank you for the support he has received.
The 10-year-old from Sunderland took up golf three years ago and has achieved success at regional and national level thanks to sponsorship support, and help from The Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust.
To thank the trust for the support, Joseph will be playing in a 36-hole challenge in April at South Shields and Whitburn golf clubs.
Joseph’s dad, Craig, told the Sunderland Echo: “This is going to be quite the challenge for Joseph but he’s looking forward to it. I’m so proud when I see him out on the golf course doing what he does best. The golf clubs have been so supportive of Joseph and helped him so much with coaching and offering the tee times free of charge.
“We just want to raise as much money as we can and give something back to the charity.”
Joseph will partner Ben Roberts and Darren McCall in the challenge on April 5 – teeing off at South Shields before moving on to the adjoining Whitburn for his second round.
