Jack Hermeston’s US college career isn’t over just yet as his University of Missouri, Kansas City team won the Western Athletic Conference Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas to book a trip to the NCAA Regionals this month.
Jack, a Northumberland county champion and member of City of Newcastle Golf Club, shot rounds of 71, 76 and 76 in the team event to help the UMKC Kangaroos to win by four shots. Jack’s teammate McCain Schellhardt shot a one over-par total of 211 to win the WAC Individual Championship.
Jack said: “As a team we played our hearts out and came out on top, there is no better feeling than sharing it with my teammates and coaches.
“On top of that my parents were able to be there to watch me play which made it even sweeter. My college career isn’t done just yet!”
