Home on the range

Danny Willett is now a proud member of Cleveland Golf Club following a recent visit to officially open the club’s driving range.

The 2016 Masters champion and winner of the 2018 DP World Tour Championship gave a coaching session and short game clinic for the members before receiving honorary membership of the club at the event.

There was also a meet and greet for guests, and the chance to ask the six-time European Tour winner about his career – from growing up in Sheffield to donning a Green Jacket at Augusta National.

“It was a pleasure to open the club’s driving range and to be given honorary membership,” said Danny. “It was a bit of a chilly day out there but the support was incredible.”

Club captain Martin Fleming added: “We were delighted to welcome a golfer of Danny’s stature to the club. We’re immensely grateful to Danny for taking time out of his busy schedule, and for the support of Callaway in making this happen.

“We have a vibrant junior section and the driving range gives us greater opportunities for members to practise and improve, and enables us to take golf further into the community. It’s a great facility for young golfers in particular and we’re always on the lookout for keen golfers.”
