Blyth Golf Club’s Jake Bullivant hit the ground running in the US with a win in his first event as a college player.
Jake, part of the Rend Lake College golf team, shot rounds of 69 and 68 to lead the field by five shots in the season-opening RLC Fall Preview Invitational at Franklin County Country Club. His team picked up the overall title with an opening round score of 292 before posting a score of 286 in the second round.
Jake said: “To get a win in my first college event is a great feeling. The tournament was a really good experience and it was really exciting to play for my collage.
“The first round was a bit of grind but I managed to hold together and make a couple birdies coming in to shoot 69. The second round was a lot better, more putts were dropping and I was hitting a lot more fairways.
“College in the US is very different from back home but is going really well.
“For my first two years I do general studies and then hopefully I will be able to transfer to a Division 1 university to carry out my masters degree.”
