The 2021 Matchroom Tour Championship will be moved to Slaley Hall with the tour’s visit to Club de Golf Alcanada pushed back to the 2022 season. This decision has been made to safeguard the tournament and the risk of the increasing costs and isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dates will remain the same with the tour’s season-ending tournament set to take place October 20-22 on the Hunting Course at Slaley Hall.
Tour CEO Daniel Godding said: “In order to safeguard the event and the risk of increasing costs and isolation, the PGA EuroPro Tour is taking the decision to move the Tour Championships at Club de Golf Alcanada to 2022 when we hope all restrictions will be lifted. We feel there is increasing risk of Covid in Europe and therefore wish to limit the potential financial exposure and travel complications for our members.
“We are exceptionally sad not to be visiting the wonderful coastline of Majorca and the phenomenal venue that is Alcanada in 2021. We thank Alcanada for all the preparations they have made to welcome us and we look forward to visiting the golf course in 2022.
“We are delighted to be offering such a high-profile course and one of the UK’s best golf venues in replacement of Club de Golf Alcanada for this year’s tournament.”
