England’s men’s team, featuring Lindrick-based Tom Osborne, were crowned runaway winners of the European Nations Cup at Sotogrande in Spain – as England’s women’s team, featuring The Longhirst Club’s Charlotte Naughton, finished in a tie for second place.
England won the men’s event by 14 shots, the same margin as their victory in 2025, with a 31 under-par team total. The team featured Tom, Eliot Baker, Ben Bolton (Enville) and Kris Kim (Wentworth).
Tiverton-based Eliot lifted the individual men’s title after finishing 15 under-par for four rounds – a new individual record for the tournament.
England Golf men’s captain Ben Gorvett said: “It was a fantastic team performance with all players contributing. These players wore the rose with pride and their quality shone through, which is what we want from our England teams.”
Meanwhile, England’s women’s team enjoyed a stellar week as Charlotte, Annabel Peaford (Walton Heath) and Ellie Lichtenhein (The Buckinghamshire) finished in a tie for second place with a one under-par total.
A strong final day performance saw England tied for the lead after 12 holes, with Charlotte holing her second shot for eagle on the 11th hole and following it up with a birdie on the par five 12th. Sweden however enjoyed a strong finish, powering to victory with a team total of six under-par. While England finished five shots back, they equalled their best finish at the event.
Charlotte meanwhile finished third in the individual standings with her two under-par total.
England Golf women’s captain Jenny Henderson said: “Scores can change quickly in a team strokeplay event and unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be for the young team this year. However, it’s a great second place finish overall and a third place finish for Charlotte, who was just one of three women to finish under par for the tournament.”
