England Golf relaunches Know the Score to help golfers understand the World Handicap System

England Golf is strengthening its commitment to educating golfers, clubs and counties on the World Handicap System with the relaunch of Know the Score – an umbrella brand for all WHS learning and support.

Originally created to help clubs and members adapt to the introduction of WHS, Know the Score will now serve as an ongoing, central hub for clear, accessible and engaging handicap education.

The campaign will focus on three core objectives. First, explaining that a Handicap Index is for everyone, promoting WHS as an inclusive system that supports golfers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Second, helping players know more so they can enjoy more, increasing understanding of how WHS and Course Rating work, and how they help golfers get more from every round. Finally, defining clear roles and responsibilities while providing straightforward guidance for golfers, clubs and committees on how the system works and how to use it correctly.

England Golf will also be tackling common misconceptions about handicaps, emphasising that a Handicap Index is a simple, fair way to measure your current ability and track your progress, especially when paired with the MyEG app.

England Golf head of handicapping & course rating Sarah Barter said: “Relaunching Know the Score is an important step in keeping handicap education relevant, simple and engaging. Our goal is to ensure every golfer and club understands their responsibilities within WHS so they can enjoy the game with confidence and fairness to all.”

As part of the campaign, England Golf is updating and expanding its online WHS resources, creating new educational content, and developing a suite of promotional assets for clubs and counties to use across their own channels. This will be an evolving programme, with new materials added regularly.
