England Golf and England Golf Trust announce collaboration to expand access and opportunity in the sport

England Golf has announced a new collaboration with the England Golf Trust, establishing the trust as the official charitable arm of the national governing body.

This alignment will enhance England Golf Trust’s mission to support individuals facing the greatest barriers to accessing and enjoying the sport – while ensuring sustainable, community-centred impact across England.

The England Golf Trust, a registered charity founded in 1982, has a long history of helping young golfers of all ages and abilities to remain engaged in the game.

Run by a dedicated board of volunteer trustees, the trust awards grants, bursaries and equipment to individuals who might otherwise struggle to participate fully in golf due to financial or other personal challenges.

Funding from the trust has historically supported coaching, club membership, competition fees and travel costs – helping young people to continue playing and developing their golf.

Under this new collaboration, the England Golf Trust will work closely with England Golf to embed charitable support more deeply within the governing body’s broader development strategy.

England Golf chief operating officer Richard Flint said: “We are delighted to formalise this collaboration with the England Golf Trust. The trust’s experience and passion for helping young people to stay involved in golf aligns perfectly with our vision for a more inclusive and accessible sport. By working together more closely, we can ensure that financial barriers and other challenges do not prevent individuals from enjoying the sport we all love.”

As part of the collaboration, the trust will bring its charitable expertise to initiatives aimed at engaging under-represented communities, supporting young talent and ensuring opportunities exist for all who aspire to play.

Fundraising and awareness-raising activities will also be aligned more strategically with England Golf’s events and outreach programmes to maximise impact.

England Golf Trust chair Moira Page said: “This collaboration marks an exciting new chapter for the trust. Becoming the official charitable arm of England Golf allows us to extend our reach and deepen our impact. Together, we will work to remove barriers and create pathways that help more people access and enjoy golf, particularly those who need support the most.”

The trust plays a crucial role in enabling young golfers and others in need to continue in the sport, fostering confidence, resilience and lifelong engagement. It does this entirely through voluntary fundraising and the generous support of individuals, clubs and organisations as it receives no public funding.
