Club unites to raise more than £4,700 for charity

Newcastle United Golf Club’s 2023 captain John Simmons ended his year in office by presenting a cheque for £4,798 to The Alzheimer’s Society.

John – who capped his year as captain with his first victory in the club championship after more than 40 years at the club – said: “It’s fantastic to be able to present this money to a brilliant charity which supports so many individuals and families. I can’t thank the members of Newcastle United, and all whose who’ve donated prizes and bought raffle tickets, enough for their support.”

Also at the club’s AGM, John handed over the captaincy to Stephen Butterfield ahead of the 2024 season.
