Five North East/North West PGA events produced eight winners in July as David Clark picked up his fifth and sixth wins of the season and pros from across the north topped the leaderboards.
At the Cockermouth Pro Am, Craig Goodfellow (Carlisle Driving Range) led the field with a six under-par 63 as his team also took top spot. James Wilkinson (Penrith Golf Centre) was second with a round of 64 as John Harrison (Matfen Hall) finished third a further shot back.
At the Seaton Carew Pro Am, Clark (Morpeth GC) returned to the top of the leaderboard with a round of 72 in tough conditions. He was joined at the top by Stephen Kyle and Mark Ridley (South Moor GC) with all three shooting one under-par totals.
At Houghton-le-Spring, Close House’s Jonathan Lupton saw the benefit of increased practice ahead of the British Masters with a 67 giving him a two-shot win over Bedlington’s Mathew Webb.
Clark was in the winners circle again over his home course at the St James’s Place Morpeth Pro Am, his sixth win so far this season, including the NE/NW PGA Championship. He was joined at the top of the leaderboard by fellow Morpeth pro Martyn Jobling as Webb added another second place finish with a round of 68.
At Richmond Golf Club, James Ratcliffe (66 – Hull GC) finished three shots clear of home club assistant Josh Fox – who was playing in his first event as a professional – and Mark Ridley. For full results go to www.nenwpga.co.uk
