Ponteland’s Claire Brown won her fifth Northumberland County Veteran Ladies’ Golf Association Championship at Alnmouth Golf Club – beating Angela Scott 1up in the final.
Claire – who also won the event in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022 – was among the 16 qualifiers for the matchplay stages as Val Robinson led the 18-hole scoring and won the Lou Stewart Salver. She then came through four close matches to lift the trophy – beating Helen Cooper 3&2, Elaine Elliott 2up, and Lynne Liddle 4&3 – before beating Alnmouth-based Angela on the 18th in the final.
