Charlotte Naughton selected for World Junior Girls Championship

England Golf has confirmed its three-player team for the World Junior Girls Golf Championship at St Catharines Golf & Country Club in Canada – which takes place September 15-20 – including Longhirst Hall-based Charlotte Naughton.

Charlotte – who will also be part of the European Junior Ryder Cup team in New York on September 23-25 – will team up with Lauren Crump (Hill Valley, Shropshire) and Ellie Lichtenhein (The Buckinghamshire). The team will be coached by Yorkshire’s Steve Robinson, with India Clyburn serving as team manager/captain.

“We have a really strong team of national champions for the World Junior Girls in Canada,” said India. “I’m excited to see how they take the opportunity to compete against other strong nations. The course setup always plays like target golf, so we need to be accurate from tee to green for the best chance of scoring well.”

England will be looking to make history at the event, having not medalled at any of the previous nine events since its inception in 2014, while no English player has finished in the top three positions on the individual leaderboard at the event.
