Changes set to continue at Whitburn

Whitburn Golf Club’s ambitious overhaul of the Lizard Lane course is set to take another step forward in the New Year.

Backed by a £250,000 loan from a club member and following a comprehensive plan by architect Jonathan Gaunt, work to-date on the 13 holes on the top side of the course has included multiple bunker improvements, the creation of new back tees on the third and seventh holes to extend the course to just over 6,000 yards, and the creation of a spectacular raised tee at the par three 16th.

Construction company Greasley was on site in December to mark out new bunkering on holes 15 to 18 on the lower side of the course, with work due to start in January (weather permitting).
