Men’s, Women’s and Junior Champion of Champions events to return to Longhirst Hall on Sunday September 14
The Northern Golfer Champion of Champions events will take place at Longhirst Hall on Sunday September 14, 2025.
The events – for men, women and juniors – will take place over Longhirst’s Dawson Course, with entries open until 23.59 on September 7.
Open to reigning (2025) club champions, there is no charge for competitors for the 18-hole tournaments, which bring together elite fields of amateur golfers from clubs in Northumberland, County Durham and Teesside along with selected clubs in the Borders, Cumbria and Yorkshire within Northern Golfer’s circulation area. Clubs will receive invitations via email in August.
The region’s best amateur golfers have lifted the trophies since Northern Golfer launched the junior event in 2015, following the success of that tournament with the launch of the ladies’ event and the return of the men’s Champion of Champions in 2017.
The 2024 events saw Slaley Hall-based Angus Buchanan add his name to the long list of men’s champions – which goes back to the 1960s – as Consett & District’s Jessica Dorritt led the field to win the women’s title, and Ramside’s Evan Oliver won the junior event.
“We can’t wait to welcome the best players from across the region back to Longhirst for this year’s Champion of Champions,” said Longhirst’s director of golf Graham Chambers. “Hosting the three events on one course, with so many top players taking part, has become a brilliant bookend to the golfing year and we’re looking forward to seeing more top golf on the Dawson Course in September.”
