Captains and vice-captains from Matfen Hall, Prudhoe and Seaham have started the golfing year with victories in league and county competitions.
Matfen Hall’s Chris Thompson and Nick Bell led the field in the Hadrian League’s Anniversary Cup. Captain Chris and vice-captain Nick narrowly pipped host club Prudhoe with their 43 points in the fourball betterball event.
Meanwhile, Prudhoe’s Steve Ridley and Mark Goodall went one better in the Newcastle & District Golf League’s Thompson Shield – posting a fourball betterball score of 43 points to win the season-opening event at Arcot Hall.
Seaham Golf Club also picked up an early win to start the season, with captain Lee Medhurst and vice-captain Michael Trippett winning the Durham County Golf Union’s annual Captains and Vice-Captains Competition at Durham City.
