Callum Moncur’s run of form in this year’s Durham County Golf Union Order of Merit events continued when he won the Darlington Classic at his home club.
Callum, who was lying second in the season-long points race after his win in the Keith Shivers Bowl at Heworth, shot a first round 64 to equal the course record set by John Kirkpatrick.
He added a second round of 70 for a 134 total and a two-shot win over Brancepeth’s Richard Aisbitt (69-67). Bishop Auckland’s James Birkbeck finished third (70-67).
With four events to go, South Shields’ Martin McCririck is top of the standings, with Callum in second place, just 30 points behind.
