Calling all champions

Entries now open for 2017 Northern Golfer Champion of Champions in partnership with Lookers Renault and hosted by Ramside Hall

Club champions from across the North can now enter the 2017 Northern Golfer Champion of Champions in partnership with Lookers Renault and hosted by Ramside Hall.

All eligible clubs in Northumberland, Co Durham, Teesside, the Scottish Borders, Cumbria and Yorkshire within Northern Golfer’s circulation area have been contacted with entry details and players can submit their details online at www.northerngolfer.co.uk/champion-of-champions-2017 for the men’s, ladies and junior events, which will take place over the Prince Bishops and Cathedral courses at Ramside Hall this September.

A number of players have already punched their tickets for the event including 16-year-old Josh David McCutcheon, winner of Stocksfield’s men’s club championship – who birdied three of his final six holes for a four-shot victory. Also the winner of the Northumberland Schools Championship this season, Josh will be joined by Backworth’s Steve Anderton – who won his 18th club championship at the club in June.

Lookers Renault, part of the national motor retailer, is partnering the event and franchise director Colin Pybus, said: “We’re delighted to partner with Northern Golfer for the 2017 Champion of Champions events at Ramside Hall. The events will bring together some of the best golfers from across the North of England for what is sure to be one of the highlights of the golfing year.

“Lookers has many strong links with golf, including sponsoring the EuroPro Tour’s Lookers Championship at Close House in the last two years, so to be part of another premier event for the region is fantastic.”

The men’s champion of champion for 2017 will earn a start at a EuroPro Tour event in the North for 2018. The winner will join the best young professionals in the UK & Ireland for a three round event with the chance to compete on the third-tier tour, which offers professionals the opportunity to earn a place on the following season’s Challenge Tour.
