Bishop Auckland Golf Club ended a sensational year with victory in the Durham Mixed Foursomes Championship and the Durham County Ladies Thomlinson Cup – as well as securing the Clark Cup and North Durham league.
In the Durham Mixed Foursomes Championship Bishop, represented by Jessica Hall and Jamie Birkbeck, got the better of Beamish Park’s Adam Mottershead and Alex Stevenson on their home track to win the final by one hole.
In the Thomlinson Cup, Briony Bayles and Angela Simpson beat the team from South Moor 2&1 in the semi-final before winning the final 5&3 against host club Brancepeth.
The wins followed the men’s team’s success in the Clark Cup and North Durham league (see page 31) as well as individual success for Briony – winner of the Durham County Ladies Championship; Dave Elliott and Derek Collinson’s wins in the Durham County Second and Third Division championships respectively; and Jessica’s successes in the Critchley Salver and Northern Schools championships plus her England cap this year.
