Abbeydale Golf Club supports Sheffield charity

As part of the celebrations of 100 years on the present golf course at Abbeydale Golf Club, captains Richard Brooks and Anita Allen led members in raising £12,000 for the Sheffield Deaf Children’s Society.

The club, with its course off Twentywell Lane in Dore, came together to support the local charity, which provides support and impartial advice to families with deaf and hearing-impaired children in Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster, Chesterfield and the surrounding areas.

Throughout the year, the charity hosts a number of events to give children the opportunity to try different activities and meet new people. These events include swimming, bowling and ice-skating, plus activities at soft play centres, theme parks and cinemas.

At the hand-over ceremony, charity representative Karen Pearce thanked the club, its members and guests for helping raise such a magnificent sum and said it would all be put to very good use supporting and helping to enhance the lives of deaf and hearing-impaired children in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire.
