YUGC hosts Agronomy Conference at Askham Bryan College

The Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs hosted its 2025 Agronomy Conference at Askham Bryan College in York – bringing together industry experts, greenkeepers and representatives from clubs across the county and beyond.

The event welcomed The R&A’s sustainable agronomy lead Paul Woodham, England Golf sustainability lead Kirstin McEvoy, Askham Bryan’s Ritchie Bywater, Marie Athorn from the RSPB/R&A Partnership, Tom Young from The Environment Partnership, and golf course designer Jonathan Gaunt to discuss their work and the challenges facing clubs and golf courses now and in the future.

There were also opportunities to put questions to the experts – and the event received positive feedback on the quality of the presentations and content for greenkeepers and those involved in the management of clubs.
