Yorkshire win Northern Counties Match Week

The Yorkshire Ladies County Golf Association team will represent the north in the national County Finals after topping the points table at Northern Counties Match Week at Eaglescliffe Golf Club.

Yorkshire topped the table in the event, which brings together the six northern counties for three days of foursomes and singles matches. The round robin format sees each team face off in two foursomes matches and three singles ties, with one point awarded for each win for a total of five points per session.

Yorkshire toped the table with nine match points – winning four ties and sharing a 2.5-2.5 draw with Cheshire, who finished second with eight points. Lancashire finished third with seven points – with Northumberland fourth, Durham fifth, and Cumbria sixth.

Yorkshire will represent the north region in the English Women’s County Finals at Betchworth Park Golf Club on July 28-31 – contested by the six winners from the regional groups (north, midland north, midland south, east, south, and south west) and following the same format with five rounds of matches over three days consisting of two foursomes games and three singles ties.
