Tyneside’s James Wilson picked up the trophy at the Heineken-sponsored Dunstanburgh Classic one day after five players shared top spot in the club’s pro am.
James led the field in the North East & North West PGA Mizuno Order of Merit event, shooting a bogey-free 65 to lead the field by two shots. City of Newcastle’s Alex Dixon finished in second place, one shot clear of Consett’s Mark Ridley.
The final event of this year’s Mizuno Order of Merit, the Matchplay Championship, takes place at Slaley Hall September 24-26.
In the Dunstanburgh pro am, also sponsored by Heineken, there was a five-way tie at the top of the leaderboard as James Maw, Vince Guest, David Clark, Simon Robinson and Thomas Rowland shot four under-par rounds of 66.
