Under Armour unveils 2024 footwear

Under Armour has revealed its new Phantom Footwear and Drive Pro Series shoes following work with some of the world’s leading golfers.

“We’re excited to kick the new year off by releasing industry-leading shoes that help golfers take their game to the next level. These shoes are years in the making, and we’re excited to get golfers’ reactions as they test them out on the course. Utilising Under Armour’s unique technologies, such as HOVR and the Swing Support System, we were able to create shoes that push the boundaries of innovation and stand out in the market,” said Jake Haley, senior product line manager for golf footwear at Under Armour.

Under Armour has taken feedback from its golf athletes including Jordan Spieth, who celebrated 10 years with the brand in 2023. Jordan has worked closely with Under Armour throughout the design process and will be putting the shoes to the test this season.

“Being a golfer isn’t a traditional 9-5 job,” said Jordan. “You’re on your feet walking the course for such a long time so it’s important to be equipped with products that will help your body achieve its best while competing. I’m thankful to have a partner in Under Armour that’s developed golf shoes that combine comfort, style, and performance through the long days we endure on the course. I look forward to showing first-hand the impact that Under Armour makes with the release of Drive Pro and Phantom.”

The Phantom Footwear, available for both men and women, was inspired by the footwear players would usually wear off the course. The new design combines the comfort of a trainer with the traction and waterproof knit upper of a golf shoe.

Meanwhile, the Drive Pro Series has been developed with golf biomechanist JJ Rivet to combine style and performance. The design features Under Armour’s innovative Swing Support System, a three-layer structure that supports the natural movement of the golf swing, delivering comfort and traction. The Swing Support Strap features reinforcement in the upper to provide optimized 360-degree lock-in from lateral ball to medial instep. The midsole features Under Armour’s HOVR foam and more supportive Charged Cushioning that supports and guides the natural motion of the foot during the golf swing. With spike (Drive Pro, RRP £150) and spikeless (Drive Pro SL, RRP £130) options, the series is engineered to provide the traction golfers need in all conditions.
