England Golf has announced its eight-player team for the biennial men’s match with France at Golf de Chantilly on May 16-17.
The team includes Yorkshiremen Tom Osborne (Lindrick) and Jake Sowden (The Oaks) as well as Eliot Baker (Tiverton, Devon), Ben Bolton (Enville, Staffordshire), Lewy Hayward (Marlborough, Wiltshire), Max Hopkins (Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire), Luke Jenkins (Rochester & Cobham, Kent) and Jamie Van Wyk (Royal Lytham & St Annes, Lancashire).
The event features four foursomes matches on the morning of each day, followed by eight afternoon singles matches.
The England team has won 26 of the 32 matches between the sides. While they lost last time out at Moortown, England won in France in 2022 with a 13.5-10.5 victory at Golf de Saint-Nom-la-Breteche.
England will be captained by Ben Gorvett, with Rob Watts serving as team coach. England Golf men’s performance manager Ben said: “We had a great battle with France in the European Nations Cup recently and we look forward to continuing our form into this match. We are focused on righting the wrongs of 2024 at Moortown.”
