Thomas Hartshorne wins national title

Teesside’s Thomas Hartshorne had a week to remember at the Carris Trophy – finishing fourth overall and winning the Hazards Salver award as the top under-16 Great Britain & Ireland player.

Thomas, 14, finished the week on 10 under-par thanks to a four under-par 67 in the final round – as Daniel Hayes won the overall event at Ormskirk with a four-round total of 16 under-par.

Elsewhere, The Northumberland’s Harrison Sewell shot a final-day 66 including eight birdies.
