The Match 2025

The Match returns to Ganton on April 10

The third edition of The Match – pitting 2020protour professionals and their celebrity/influencer partners against Yorkshire’s best amateurs will take place at Ganton on April 10

The third edition of The Match will take place at Ganton Golf Club on Friday April 10 – with professionals from the 2020protour teaming up with celebrity/influencer partners to take on the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs men’s team.

The 2020protour and celebrity/influencer team will feature John Parry, Dan Brown, Dan Bradbury, Joe Dean, Sam Bairstow, Chris Hanson and Simon Dyson as well as TV presenter Dan Walker, Geordie Shore cast member turned golf influencer Gaz Beadle, YouTuber Alex Elliot, PGA professional and content creator Trey Niven, and Will Edson from Beer Fore Bogeys.

Meanwhile, the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs men’s team will feature Jake Sowden, Tom Osborne, Lucas Martin, Charlie Daughtrey, Matt Dolling, Dan Norman, Oli Smith, Lewis Harrison, Max Reynolds, Oli Caton, Lewis Hollingworth, and 2020protour co-founder Adam Walker.

“The Match was amazing last year, with some 1,500 spectators enjoying the event and a high level of golf from the pros and the amateurs,” said 2020protour co-founder Chris Hanson. “We’re praying for more good weather and some more exciting golf.

“We’re really excited about the new format, with a great lineup of celebrities and influencers joining some of Yorkshire’s most successful tour players. The team will be a bit different this time around and we think it’ll make it even more competitive on the golf course. We’re also expecting to draw more spectators given the success of last year – and with some different people involved from across the game of golf.

“It’s amazing to have the support of the guys playing on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour. It’s fantastic that they’re willing to take a day out to be part of this, and it’s an incredible opportunity to see these guys up close on the range, in the clinics and out on the golf course.”

“The Match has become a great way to start our season, and we can’t thank the 2020protour and Ganton enough for continuing to put the event on,” said Yorkshire county captain David Appleyard.

“The new format will be interesting and we’re hoping for a competitive match with another big crowd out to watch lots of the best players from Yorkshire.

“The players enjoyed the big crowd and atmosphere last year, something that was new for them and gave them a taste of what it could be like if and when they turn professional.

“We’ve got a strong side with a lot of experienced players in there as well as some new and returning ones, and I’m sure it’ll be another great day for golf in Yorkshire.”

The players are set to tee off at 1pm, and building on the success of last year’s event there will be entertainment for spectators from 11am, including clinics on the range.

The event is free to attend, while parking (£10 per car) must be booked online at 2020protour.co.uk/the-match
