The best is yet to come for Albatross Golf Holidays & Events

Albatross Golf Holidays & Events is set for its busiest year to-date in 2026 following growth in the number of golfers travelling to destinations across the globe with the North East-based business, the launch of new events at some of the world’s best courses, and growth in its team.

Led by PGA professional Andy Scrimshaw, the Albatross team grew in 2025 with new hires – including John McStravick, who returned to the North East after two-and-a-half years as tournament controller for the PGA East Region, and client experience and administration executive Jo Avis.

Last year, golfers travelled with Albatross to world-leading destinations on holidays and as part of a packed calendar of hosted experiences, amateur tournaments, and pro am events.

In 2026, the team has already elevated the calendar further – with events set to take place in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Turkey, Portugal, Spain, Greece, Mauritius, and at Thracian Cliffs in Bulgaria.

The slate also features events at Old Head in Ireland, Lofoten Links in Norway, and Royal Portrush and Royal County Down in Northern Ireland as well as visits to Gleneagles, Turnberry, and Royal Lytham.

Andy, who founded the business in 2018 alongside fellow professional Martyn Jobling and expanded it to offer golf travel alongside event experiences in 2023, said: “2025 was a fantastic year for Albatross as we expanded our team for the first time since Martyn and I started out on this journey, improved how we deliver holidays and events for golfers, and grew the number of people travelling with us.

“We’ve worked really hard to create a bespoke, personal travel experience golfers can trust. We’ll have more than 2,000 people travelling with us this year, and while we continue to develop new and exciting offerings for golf holidays around the world with our partners, we’ve also worked hard to elevate our events programme for 2026. We have fantastic relationships with some of the world’s best venues and look forward to heading back to those in the months ahead, while also creating new experiences for players at prestigious, world-renowned courses close to home, across Europe, and beyond.

“Albatross is very much a team effort now with the arrival of Alison, Jo and John – and I can’t thank everyone who is part of the business enough for their dedication and hard work. We have a busy year ahead, and together I’ve got no doubt we’ll make it even better than the last one.”

In 2026, Albatross will also continue its partnership with Northern Golfer as title sponsor of the Match Play Pairs tournament as it celebrates its 25th year.
