Stalwart honoured at Durham County Golf Union AGM

Ted Kirtley’s 30 years of service to golf was marked with a special presentation at the Durham County Golf Union’s AGM at Houghton-le-Spring Golf Club.

County president Gerry Johnson and Durham’s record cap holder John Kennedy spoke about Ted’s commitment and service to the county, and his support to the players who represent the team.

Ted was first elected to the county’s executive committee in 1994. He served as county captain in 2002 and 2004, and was president in 2005 and 2006.

Meanwhile, Alex Shaw (Seaton Carew) and Andy Hill (Beamish Park) were elected to the executive committee at the AGM. Peter Greenwell (Hartlepool) was re-elected to the committee, and Bernie Munroe (Houghton-le-Spring) was chosen to serve as president-elect during 2025 before taking on the presidency in 2026.
