Special focus – Matfen Hall launches new state-of-the-art clubhouse

Matfen Hall has opened the doors to its new clubhouse – The Keepers – following a multi-million-pound renovation.

Utilising the original Keepers building overlooking the golf course, the clubhouse is now home to The Golf Lab, with two studios featuring industry-leading technology.

The first studio features Foresight GCHawk overhead-mounted launch monitor technology, which uses the same object-sensing and image-capturing systems found in GCQuad, and allows players to work with accurate data indoors. Unlike many other studios, with GCHawk left- and right-handed players can use the technology at the same time without having to move any equipment.

While you can work with detailed numbers to hone your swing like the professionals, the studio also allow you to test your skills on some of the world’s best courses – from Royal Troon and The Old Course at St Andrews to Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Bethpage – with stunning quality graphics on the big screens.

The Golf Lab is also home to a second studio featuring Foresight GCQuad and PuttView technology – making it the first studio of its kind in the region. Using augmented reality, the PuttView technology overlays information onto the putting green surface in real-time, illustrating every aspect of a putt to allow you to work on one of the most important areas of the game with incredible levels of accuracy and consistency. As well as projecting the line of the putt on the ground, PuttView also tracks your ball in real-time and provides insights into your putting performance beyond what you’d normally see out on the practice green.

The Golf Lab is also home to custom fitting with golf biggest names, and PGA professional coaching with resident pro Tom Robson.

In addition to providing the latest technology in The Golf Lab, The Keepers also offers a contemporary restaurant and terrace area with an outdoor barbecue and pizza oven. A new mezzanine level along with a balcony, which wraps around the building, provides panoramic views of the stunning parkland as well as a view of players finishing out on the 18th.
