Shirley Firth has taken office as captain of Ben Rhydding Golf Club.
Shirley, a member of Ben Rhydding for 26 years, said: “I am very proud to follow in the footsteps of my father and brother, and become club captain.
“Sadly, both have passed away. My brother, Trevor, died after a long battle with bowel cancer. He was aware I had been asked about the position and encouraged me to accept it, saying it is a great honour. My charity during my captaincy is the Leeds Hospital Cancer Charity, where Trevor received treatment, as well as Ben Rhydding Golf Club as it is a self-help club and a place I enjoy spending my time.”
