What have you been up to?
“I’m really lucky to be involved in the junior and ladies county coaching for Northumberland and we’ve had so many success stories in recent years. Since I started I’ve seen girls like Rosie Belsham, Jess Baker, Rachel Gourley and so many more come up through the ranks, make it into the county side and then progress on and make a name for themselves nationally. I’m really looking forward to seeing the next girls come through the system.
“Away from my work with the county, I’m kept really busy at Close House with all my private coaching – both for men and women!
“I’ve also done a lot of work on ladies clinics and beginner coaching this year, and that’s proving really popular. We’ve had some great results with ladies coming through and joining clubs, and I want to do more of that next season.”
How did you get into the game?
“My dad and uncle are PGA professionals and my grandad was a PGA pro too. I lived on the golf course where my dad was the pro, Bridgnorth Golf Club in Shropshire, until I went to college in the US and I spent all my time playing golf there.”
What does the future hold?
“A lot more coaching! I want to help bring more people into the game next season through my work at Close House – whether that’s women, men or juniors.
“I’d love to play more, I wanted to go out on tour when I was at college, but it’s hard to do both well and I love being a coach so I’m concentrating on that.”
