Rotherham Golf Club’s men’s team successfully defended the Yorkshire Team Championship trophy at Selby.
The team of Jack Whaley (61-69), Max Reynolds (67-68) and Lucas Martin (70-70) produced a standout performance to top the leaderboard in the 36-hole event – in which all scores count in both rounds – with a team total of 21 under-par as they finished 19 shots clear of second-paced Garforth.
Meanwhile, Jack led the individual scoring with his 12 under-par total, which included a course record 61 in the first round.
The Rotherham team – which won the event for the third time in the last four years – will go on to represent Yorkshire in the English Men’s Champion Club event at Kedleston Park on September 19-20. They will be looking to win the national event in back-to-back years following the success of Lucas, Charlie Daughtrey and Lewis Hollingworth in 2025.
