Following an incredibly successful season, Lincoln-based Rob Harris topped both the pro/elite amateur and headline event orders of merit on the 2020protour.
Rob won three times in 12 events this season – topping the leaderboards in the Kenwick Park x Ignis Management event as well as the tournament at Waterton Park, and the Headline Event at Harrogate Golf Club. He also had five other top five finishes and was only outside the top 10 once this year.
“It’s great to win the order of merit titles, having played events on the 2020protour since it started,” said Rob. “It’s fantastic to have so many opportunities to play. My career has been up and down and coming back from a couple of back operations, having shorter events to play in that are relatively close to home has been fantastic. It’s a great platform to get tournament golf in and I’m incredibly thankful to Chris [Hanson] and Adam [Walker] for creating the tour and continuing to host high-quality tournaments.”
Rob topped the pro/elite amateur order of merit with 1,066.25 points – beating Will Marshall by more than 400 points as tour co-founder Chris Hanson finished third. Will was also second in the Headline Event order of merit as Reece Samson claimed third place.
With the wins, Rob earned a £2,750 bonus to pay for DP World Tour Qualifying School, a TrackMan 4 for a year, an ATSG clothing bundle, an AutoFlex custom shaft, a Clamp Golf Co. custom bundle, free membership of the 2020protour for the 2026 season, and a place in the HotelPlanner Tour’s Irish Challenge in 2026.
“I’m still aspiring to push on and make it to the next level as a player, and having a place in the HotelPlanner Tour’s Irish Challenge next season will be a fantastic opportunity,” added 39-year-old Rob, whose golf career was seriously threatened by a car crash in 2007. “I’ll be back out on the 2020protour in 2026 as well, which I’m really looking forward to, and I’ll be looking to test myself in some other tournaments too. I have a couple of businesses and a family, so it’ll definitely be busy, but I’m in the best place I have been physically for at least 10 years and I’m looking forward to it.”
