Rhys Thompson lifted the Dundonald Links Classic trophy on the Tartan Pro Tour after a playoff win over Josh Crumplin and Greg Dalziel.
Slaley Hall-based Rhys, a former Durham county player, finished in a tie at the top of the leaderboard alongside Josh and Greg after posting rounds of 74, 67 and 69 for a six under-par total. He then completed his comeback from seven shots off the pace after 18 holes with a birdie four at the 18th in the sudden-death playoff.
“It was a nice way to win it,” Rhys told The Scotsman after picking up the £4,180 winner’s cheque. “I was lucky as I had a couple for it after Greg had three-putted while Josh had to chip out from the rough, but I still managed to make birdie.”
The win follows Rhys’ victory earlier this season on the Portugal Pro Tour, and his win last year on the Tartan Pro Tour at Leven Links.
