Rabbits and inter champions crowned

Clubs from across the north took part in the finals days for the North East Rabbits Golf Association’s Rabbits and Inter leagues – with Hunley Hall and Cave Castle picking up the team titles.

In the Rabbits’ finals day at Barnard Castle, Cave Castle took home the team trophy – beating Roseberry Grange by one point as their seven top scorers from the team of eight amassed 226 points.

In the individual event as Barnard Castle – which sees the leading points scorer for each of the league’s clubs compete for the title on finals day – Cleveland’s Andrew Mitchell won the trophy with 41 points, beating second- placed Craig Fenby from Dinsdale by five points.

In the Inter finals day at Forest Park, the Hunley Hall team came out on top – beating Crook by just one point as their seven top scorers from the team of eight amassed 233 points.

In the individual trophy at Forest Park – which mirrors the format of the Rabbits’ finals day – Darlington’s Ben Shutt led the field with 40 points as Drax’s Garryck Slaywe finished second with 39 points, edging out Bishop Auckland’s Andy Gardiner on countback.
