The Queensbury Golf Club ladies’ section is aiming to build on their incredible success in 2025 – having lifted five trophies last season.
The winning run got underway at the Yorkshire Ladies County Foursomes – with Linda Marshall and Jean Cawkwell lifting the trophy at Knaresborough. The win was the club’s second in the event in three years, following Joanne Ritchie and Pat Wallace’s victory in 2022.
In September, the team successfully defended the White Rose League title at Richmond. Having qualified for the semi-finals in third place, they overcame Rawdon before going on to beat Rudding Park – with Queensbury White Rose captain Joanne holing the final putt on the 18th for a 3-1 victory.
Two days after the White Rose victory, three of the players took to the course again at Shipley – with Jean, Pat and Linda representing Queensbury in the Bradford & District Evening League final against Bracken Ghyll. Linda lost her game while Pat won, and following Jean’s win and a tense wait while the scores were calculated, Queensbury took home their third trophy of the season.
The winning streak was far from over and on September 23 at Woodsome Hall – the team of Joanne, Jean Richardson and Carol Bray lifted the Yorkshire Senior Ladies Presidents Trophy, beating teams from 33 clubs with their impressive score of 86 points.
The fifth and final win of the year came the following day as Joanne and Linda won the final of the Bradford & District Evening League Foursomes against Keighley at Bracken Ghyll – taking home the trophy with a 4&2 victory.
