The 1927 Swing Studio has been officially opened at Ponteland Golf Club.
Home to industry-leading TrackMan iO technology, the new indoor studio has been created to enhance the experience of club members and build on the teaching and custom fitting work of head professional Chris McDonnell and PGA professional May Shaw.
“The opening of the indoor studio adds the final piece of the puzzle to an enviable set of facilities for our members to play, practise, and get custom fit for the latest equipment,” said Chris. “With our fantastic grass range and outdoor practice facilities, and the addition of the technology which so many players are looking for when they’re working on their game, I’m excited to get into the heart of the golf season and work with players from experienced club golfers through to those coming into the game as part of our popular junior and beginner programmes.”
Funded by a group of founder members, the studio has been created in a section of the greenkeepers’ facility behind the 18th green. The project was delivered by Jon Douglas and his team, with the technology supplied and fitted by Golf Swing Systems.
“After several months of hard work, it’s fantastic to see the studio open and being enjoyed by those who have helped deliver it,” added general manager Candi Watkins. “The creation of the studio has been a real team effort – and the dedication of our committee members, professional team and outside contractors has delivered a facility that will elevate what Ponteland Golf Club offers to its members to new heights.”
The ceiling-mounted Trackman iO technology combines radar, infrared and high-speed imaging to deliver data for practice sessions, fun games and challenges, and virtual golf on some of the world’s greatest courses – from Pebble Beach and Bethpage Black to Adare Manor, Lofoten Links, and Le Golf National.
