PING has introduced the G430 family following work by engineers to unlock more speed and distance without sacrificing the brand’s industry-leading forgiveness.
The G430 family consists of three driver models – MAX, LST and SFT – two fairway wood designs (MAX and SFT) in multiple lofts, six hybrid choices and an iron set (4-9, PW, 45.5°, 50°, 54°, 58°). For slower-swing-speed golfers, all of the clubs except the LST driver can be custom built in lighter specifications during the custom fitting process.
For the new drivers, PING’s engineering team developed several new technologies which are common to all three models, while also applying specific advancements to each individual head.
The added ball speed is attributed to a shallower and thinner VFT forged face design engineered with Spinsistency, a variable roll radius technology which debuted in the G425 fairway woods and hybrids. The improved sound throughout the family is the result of fine-tuning the frequencies of the head through a new internal rib structure.
The MAX model (RRP £525) remains the most forgiving and fits the widest range of golfers. Featuring a 460cc head, a 25g high-density tungsten backweight is able to influence shot shape by as much as eight yards.
Carbonfly Wrap technology is exclusive to the LST (Low Spin Technology) driver (RRP £575). A lightweight composite covers the crown and wraps into the heel/toe sections of the skirt to save weight and lower the centre of gravity for more ball speed, less spin and higher MOI. The eight-layer, one-piece composite saves 4g, while a new moveable 22g high-density tungsten backweight influences shot shape by as much as seven yards.
New to the 460cc SFT (Straight Flight Technology) head (RRP £525) is a 22g two-setting, moveable tungsten backweight that positions the centre of gravity to deliver 13 yards of right-to-left shape in the Draw setting and another seven yards in the Draw+ position.
“The combined distance gains throughout the entire G430 family are like nothing we’ve seen from one generation of clubs to the next,” said John K. Solheim, PING CEO & president. “Our approach with G430 has been to find more speed and deliver it in a way that contributes to lower scores and more enjoyment on the course. That includes providing a level of forgiveness that remains unequalled. The powerful combination of distance and forgiveness wins out when golfers are properly fitted. We see that every day in our research and we’re excited to get the G430 into the hands of golfers so they can see the same benefits.”
The new range also includes the multi-material G430 irons (RRP £150 per club) which have produced distance gains of 7-10 yards and improved accuracy during testing.
PING’s longest iron ever is the result of a complex design that combines a lower centre of gravity with stronger, custom-engineered lofts and a thinner face that delivers up to a 2mph increase in ball speed.
A key contributor to the added distance is the PurFlex cavity badge, an innovation with seven flex zones that allows more free bending to increase ball speed across the face. The stronger lofts across the set resulted in the addition of a 41° PW to ensure proper gapping options and allowed for standard lofts in the wedges (45.5°, 50°, 54°, 58°).
Among the refinements to the overall shape is a shorter hosel – which creates a more compact, clean look and helps lower the centre of gravity – aligning it closer to the force line to increase ball speed and ensure solid impact, especially low on the face. Approximately 1° of additional bounce throughout the set enables clean turf interaction, while the high-density tungsten toe and shaft tip weights contribute to high MOI and produce tighter dispersion patterns. The hydropearl 2.0 chrome finish delivers consistent performance from wet or dry grass.
In all the G430 fairway woods, Carbonfly Wrap delivers more distance by positioning the centre of gravity closer to the force line to maximise ball speed – resulting in higher, longer carries in the MAX and SFT models.
The lightweight composite crown wraps into the heel and toe sections of the skirt, creating weight savings of 10g which are reallocated to increase ball speed. The composite also plays a role in the pleasing sound while a tungsten backweight extends the perimeter weighting to increase forgiveness.
Two proven technologies carry over and contribute to distance gains and spin consistency across the clubface too. Facewrap technology – a variable-thickness, high-strength maraging-steel face – wraps into the sole and crown of the stainless-steel head, generating more flexing for faster ball speed and higher launch for greater distance. The variable roll radius of Spinsistency improves performance across the face by reducing spin to increase ball speed.
The MAX model (RRP £350) fits the widest range of golfers with four options, while the slightly larger head size of the SFT (RRP £350) is offered in three lofts with lighter swingweights to help square the face at impact. Trajectory Tuning 2.0 provides eight hosel positions, adjusting for loft (±1.5°) and lie (up to 3° flatter than standard).
The new G430 hybrids (RRP £295) are also loaded with innovations, including Carbonfly Wrap.
Alongside proven technologies Facewrap and Spinsistency, this delivers the speed and performance to take on any approach shot. With six loft options (17-34°) they are ideal mid- and long-iron replacements. The lightweight, eight-position hosel enables adjustments for loft (±1.5°) and lie (up to 3° flatter than standard).
A new full set custom fitting option, G430 HL, is also available. With the same score-lowering technology as the standard G430 series, this suite of clubs is designed for slower swing speed golfers who don’t generate sufficient clubhead speed and ball velocity from traditionally weighted clubs. Custom engineered with lighter backweights (11g in driver and 5.5g in fairways and hybrids), ultra-light shafts (PING ALTA Quick 35/45) and grips (Lamkin UTx light), the overall system weight is lowered so golfers can swing faster and generate more ball speed for higher-launching, longer-carrying shots across the entire set. G430 HL is available in the MAX and SFT drivers and fairway woods, hybrids (3-7) and irons.
