The best players in the world, and their caddies, understand how far they hit each club incredibly accurately.
Once you have a reasonably good technique and hit the ball consistently, it’s important to know how far you hit each of your clubs – and your wedges make the perfect starting point as these are the clubs that really make the difference to scoring at every level.
With each of your wedges, hit shots with a short, medium and full swing and measure the outcomes of each. Write these numbers down and memorise them. Once you have these set, use them on the golf course – just be sure to regularly check them and adjust the numbers if the outcomes are different to your base numbers out on the course.
Take a small amount of time to calibrate your yardages at the start of the season and it’ll make your short game so much better out on the course.
