NERGA rabbits and inter champions crowned

Clubs from across the north took part in the finals days for the North East Rabbits Golf Association’s Rabbits and Inter leagues – with Drax and Masham picking up the team titles.

In the Rabbits’ finals day at Romanby, Drax took home the team trophy – beating Wearside by 14 points as their seven top scorers from the team of eight amassed 257 points.

In the individual event at Romanby – which sees the leading points scorer for each of the league’s clubs compete for the title on finals day – Cleveland’s Lewis Rudd won the trophy with 45 points, beating second-placed Timothy Coates from Whitby by three points.

In the delayed Inter finals day at Barnard Castle, the Masham team came out on top – beating Crook by nine points as their seven top scorers from the team of eight amassed 239 points.

In the individual trophy at Barnard Castle – which mirrors the format of the Rabbits’ finals day – Bishop Auckland’s Graham Laverick beat Roseberry Grange’s Steven Hoyle on countback after both players scored 38 points.
