Following our round-up in the August/September edition of Northern Golfer, more club champions have been crowned across the region – securing invitations to the Champion of Champions events in early 2022.
Rising Durham County star Ben Willis became the youngest winner of the South Shields club championship at the age of 16 with a record-equalling performance. Ben posted an opening 63 before following it up with a round of 71 to finish ahead of Nigel King and Martin McCririck.
Ladies titles have been won by Ami Ewan (Ponteland), Gabrielle Dickinson (Beamish Park), Claire Allison (Longhirst Hall), Janet Ross (Heworth), Emily Garbutt (Middlesbrough), Lynne Liddle (Gosforth), Lucy Nimmo (Chester-le-Street) and Julie Ribeiro (Morpeth).
Meanwhile, men’s titles have been won by Craig Penny (Newbiggin), Mark Wharton (Newcastle United), Cameron Thoburn (Westerhope), Tony Waller (Morpeth), David Chambers (Longhirst), Will Marshall (Heworth), Robert Lilley (Middlesbrough), Richard Walker (Wearside), David Turner (Hobson), Ryan Blemmings (Consett), Kevin Suggett (Chester-le-Street) and Dave Patterson (Seaham).
Junior club championships have also been won by Gabriel Somerville-Smith (Beamish Park) and James Lusk (Chester-le-Street).
