Millie Hixon sets a new course record at Fairmont St Andrews

Millie Hixon had a week to remember at the Stephen Gallacher Foundation’s Fairmont Trophies as she set a new course record on the Torrance Course and made it into a playoff for the girls’ title.

Millie, from Wearside, shot an eight under-par 66 in the second round of the three-day World Amateur Golf Ranking event.

She went on to finish on eight under-par after 54 holes – with rounds of 73, 66 and 75 – and sit at the top of the leaderboard alongside Hannah Ounap (73-72-69). Hannah then managed to birdie the second extra hole to win the playoff and take home the trophy.

Meanwhile, Kai Laing and Martin Shine were joint winners of the boys’ event.
