Stocksfield-based Lee Cattermole led the field in the Northumberland Union of Golf Clubs’ season-opening North & South Trophy at Bamburgh Castle Golf Club.
Former Sunderland and Middlesbrough footballer Lee topped the leaderboard with rounds of 67 and 68 for a one under-par total to claim his first NUGC title.
Three players – Rob Henderson (The Northumberland), Stewart Fell (Tynemouth) and Phil Ridden (City of Newcastle) – finished one shot back in a tie for second place.
