John Harrison wins hat-trick of pro am titles

John Harrison proved his game is still sharp enough to compete with stars of the DP World and PGA tours as he won back-to-back-to-back North East & North West PGA pro ams.

The association’s chairman led the field in the Westerhope Golf Club pro am – which raised money for charities Tiny Lives and Business Beats Cancer – with a bogey-free seven under-par round of 65. The win extended his run of winning every year on the NE/NW PGA circuit to 47 years. Jonathan Graham finished in solo second with his round of 66 as Ken Ferrie finished third.

In the next event, at Crook Golf Club, Longhirst-based John led the way with a two under-par round of 68 as Wilhelm Marklew and Mark Ridley finished in a tie for second.

With a stellar field for the Seaton Carew pro am – including tour players Callum Tarren and Andrew Wilson – John once again topped the leaderboard to complete his hat-trick – this time posting a five under-par total of 66. James Wilson finished in solo second with his round of 67 as David Clark and Alex Wrigley tied for third place.
